National Peanut Fest Parade
Yup! The National Peanut Festival in Dothan, AL, which happens November 1-10, is having the Parade early this year! The 112 scheduled Parade entries will run along a new downtown route and begin in the afternoon instead of early morning.
This year, the fest will honor the 80th (!!!) celebration with a return to the traditional route down Foster Street, a nostalgic change from the recent east-west corridor of Main Street. The later start better accommodates the high school kids in the bands who have Friday night football games. The route change will allow the 400+ dedicated volunteers – previously engaged at the fairgrounds during the parade – to enjoy the festivities. (The parade still starts on East Main (Hwy 84) as it has in recent years. Click link below for the route changes.)
Join the 2024 Parade Grand Marshal, Harry Hall, as the Parade winds thru S. St Andrews & Foster Street areas near the Dothan Civic Center. Bring a folding chair and watch the pre-parade festivities, featuring the Cement Mixer truck that unloads the Peanuts on the Parade Route.
Get there early and join Dothan Leisure Services Downtown for BOO FEST on Saturday morning at 10am. Enjoy family-friendly offerings from local downtown merchants, costume contests for you and your furry friends, pie-eating contests featuring local celebrities, unique vendors, food trucks, and more ’til 2pm!
Dothan is known as the “Peanut Capital of the World” and the heart of peanut country for good reason. The majority of all the peanuts grown in the US grow within a 100-mile radius of Dothan!
