Greater Baton Rouge State Fair
It’s 11 days of family fun, BR-style!
The all-volunteer-run Baton Rouge State Fair keeps over 50 years of tradition alive with the reliable plate of over 40 carnival midway rides, all for a good cause (student scholarships and nonprofit grants), a beer garden, concessions, and of course, ag-shows. Plus, there’s a petting zoo, exotic animals, and live music. Artists include the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame Band, La Luz D San Marcos de Baldemar y Raul, Cumberland County, Natalie & Southern Accent, Anthony Ex La Makina, and more.
The GBRSF also presents the LEGO Extravaganza, hot dog eating contest, kiddie pumpkin painting contest, the Swifty Swine Racing Pigs, Maracas decorating party, the Dynamo Dogs, and the Dallas and Nick Show juggling fire (and even a lawn mower!). And it goes without saying, there will be vendors selling the best of Louisiana fair food. Treat yo’self to corny dogs, hot cracklins, jambalaya, funnel cake, and everything you can imagine fried or on a stick. Bring your appetite!
