How Would You Like to Slide into the Gulf of Mexico at a Frosty 9° Farenheit?

How Would You Like to Slide into the Gulf of Mexico at a Frosty 9° Farenheit?

Christmas comes early this year with Moody Gardens in Galveston, Texas announcing the return of a family favorite for the holiday season. The popular ICE LAND: Ice Sculptures is coming back with a special theme for 2022.

Ice Land: A Caribbean Christmas opens in mid-November and runs through the first week of January.

An award-winning team of master ice carvers from Harbin, China returns to Moody Gardens to create the ultimate Caribbean Christmas, carving magnificent, towering ice sculptures out of two million pounds of ice for a spectacular aquatic adventure.

A massive oil rig-themed ice slide invites guests to embark on a breathtaking underwater journey from the shores of Galveston Island and “dive” to the depths of the Gulf of Mexico. As they explore the icy ocean paradise, sunken treasure and Christmas surprises will appear along the way – spectacular schools of colorful tropical fish, eagle rays, turtles, dolphins, Hammerhead sharks, the beautiful Flower Garden Banks, and more – all within a 28,000 sq. ft. insulated tent structure chilled and maintained at nine degrees.

Ice Land is but one attraction in Moody Gardens’ annual transformation into Holidays in the Gardens. The year-end tradition includes:
•  Festival of Lights, a mile-long walking trail decked with two million lights and filled with animated light displays choreographed to holiday music and spectacular views of Galveston Bay
•  Arctic Slide outdoor ice rink
•  Holiday dinners and buffets
•  Nightly fireside S’mores
•  Train rides
•  Special Evening Cruises on the Colonel Paddlewheeler
•  Star: the Dancing Tree of Light
