National Peanut Festival
The National Peanut Festival is celebrating 8 decades (!) of nutty goodness.
Each fall, Dothan, Alabama rolls out the legume carpet to celebrate harvest season and honor the work of peanut farmers at the nation’s largest peanut festival. Dothan is known as the “Peanut Capital of the World” and the heart of peanut country. The majority of all the peanuts grown in the US grow within a 100-mile radius of Dothan!
Musical guests include: Ashley McBryde, COT Band, and the Rock Mob.
The festival began in 1938 as a three-day event. Dr. George Washington Carver was the guest speaker. Today, the National Peanut Festival has grown to a 10-day event with 200,000+ attendees, amusement rides, animal attractions, agricultural displays, concerts, livestock shows, a parade, great fair food, and live music. Oh, and of course, tons of peanuts!
