Attention! Divers needed!
Considering a dive trip to Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary this spring? How about the last weekend of April? That’s the weekend of the City Nature Challenge, and it’s a great opportunity to insure that some sanctuary species make the list. It’s as easy as taking some photos!
The NOAA FGB crew is teaming up with Texas Caribbean Charters to encourage participation in the 2023 City Nature Challenge. This international bio-blitz challenges cities around the world to identify and document the greatest number of plant and animal species over a single weekend.
The Houston/Galveston city region regularly places in the Top 5. Together, let’s get some sanctuary species on this year’s list!
All the details will be covered in a webinar on April 18: Click here to register for Webinar. Even if you won’t be out in the sanctuary that weekend, you may still submit photos/data through the iNaturalist app following any dive at the Flower Garden Banks. Divers are encouraged to join and learn how. For more information, contact Kelly.Drinnen@noaa.gov.
Passage on Texas Caribbean’s M-V Fling for the April 28 scuba event may be booked directly by clicking the orange button below.
