
We Will Dream New Works Festival

No Dream Deferred NOLA announced its inaugural new play festival, We Will Dream: New Works Festival. Performances will take place in the historic Bayou Road Corridor in 2023.
The festival will be a biennial event that locates the Bayou Road corridor of New Orleans as the “national meeting place” for Black playwrights originating/working in the American South to engage with compelling, artistic, intellectual, and cultural dialogue and community exploration. The festival will premiere full productions of three new plays written by Black playwrights with a strong, ongoing connection to the American South.
Works include Opening Plenary Speaker, James Ijames, Drapetomania: A Negro Carol, experimental video short Freshwater, Lauren Malara presents headliner Jackie Jenkins Jr. Comedy Showcase, the Self-Aware Millennial, Where the Suga Still Sweet, The Defiance of Dandelions, Sons of Liberty, and Closing Plenary: Erika Dickerson-Despenza.
