“…this worst of evils…” Slavery in Brazoria County Texas

Freeport Historical Museum’s powerful exhibit examining the slavery in Brazoria County, Texas returns. “…this worst of evils…” – Slavery in Brazoria County will be on display for the month of February through March 30, 2024.

The show was curated by Freeport Historical Museum Manager Wade Dillon and is the largest exhibit he’s put together. Dillon worked beyond the Freeport museum to a number of area historic sites. The curator also found Texas stories from the Federal Writers Project of the Works Progress Administration, which interviewed over 2,300 former enslaved peoples across the U.S.
