The Nth Power Presents: The Gap Band Tribute
On the nights after Jazz Fest, some blended supergroup of musicians – native and visiting – comes together somewhere in New Orleans to host and perform a one-off night of tribute to a pop cultural nugget from music past. These reverential cover bands have become as anticipated a part of Fest as the cubes, the second lines, and cochon de lait in a paper boat.
This night, The Nth Power, Dumpstaphunk, and friends play tribute to The Gap Band – the American R&B/funk juggernaut lead by brothers: Charlie, Ronnie, and Robert Wilson. The Gap Band dominated the years bridging the 70s & 80s with hits, “Oops Upside the Head,” “You Dropped a Bomb on Me,” and “Burn Rubber on Me.”
