Southwest District Livestock Show & Rodeo

Get ready for the return of the Southwest District Livestock Show & Rodeo to Lake Charles. This year marks the 85th year of “The Greatest Show On Dirt.” Professional rodeo competitors from across the nation will vie for nearly $250,000 in cash and prizes and competing in rodeo events including Bareback Riding, Saddle Bronc Riding, Calf Roping, Team Roping, Steer Wrestling, Barrel Racing, Bull Riding, and newly added Women’s Breakaway Roping.

Aside from the traditional events, rodeo fans can expect several entertaining extras like the fast-
paced Buddy-Barrel Pick-up, Rodeo Clown Dusty Meyers, and Tim Lepard and his troop of Capuchin cowboy monkeys.

The prelude to the big event will be the arrival of the trail riders into Lake Charles and the Western Heritage Rodeo Parade on February 1. The parade will begin on Ryan ST at E. LaGrange ST in Lake Charles, and will travel south on Ryan before ending at McNeese Stadium.
