Juneteenth Freedom Festival

Head to Southwest Louisiana for four days of festivities celebrating the history of African Americans and Juneteenth!

On Friday, grab your lawn chairs and blankets, and bring your family to the civic center to enjoy a evening under the stars and enjoy the family-friendly hit, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.

Saturday is Free Dental Day: Screenings and cleanings will be done as needed at no charge on a first-come. first-serve basis. Vendors, blood pressure checks, glucose testing and COVID vaccinations will be available on site. Later on, celebrate the 2023 SWLA Center for Health Scholarship Recipients for their scholastic achievements and dedication to helping others in the community.

Sunday offers a morning of worship and fellowship as Mount Olive Baptist Church and the Juneteenth Freedom Festival hosts the first annual Juneteenth Worship Service. The service will feature a gospel choir and after services, a Juneteenth panel discussion.

Finally, on Monday, enjoy a day filled with activities held in the Lake Charles Civic Center Exhibition Hall. This is where it all happens! BBQ cook-off, a Juneteenth parade, local vendors, the presentation of the Juneteenth Queens, a Freedom Festival Concert, and live music at night with Rusty Metoyer & the Zydeco Krush! After the music, the celebration wraps with fireworks over the Lakefront.
