Go 4th on the River: NOLA Fireworks

Go 4th on the River: NOLA Fireworks

Celebrate the 4th of July along the historic New Orleans Riverfront!

On both sides of the Mississippi River, Independence Day fireworks will be on full display. Barges will position themselves between Gov. Nichols St. Wharf and the Canal St. Dock for a show to the medley of patriotic songs

The fireworks show starts at 9pm. Every year Magic 101.9 WWL AM 870 or FM 105.3 syncs patriotic music to the fireworks so be sure to bring a radio and tune in.

Set up camp anywhere along the riverfront and you can’t go wrong! It’ll be hard to miss with two barges shooting fireworks hundreds of feet into the air. Some of the best spots are at Woldenberg Park at the Moon Walk (the riverside promenade named after former mayor Maurice “Moon” Landrieu) or on the other side of the river in Algiers.

If you really want to get a great spot, both New Orleans riverboats the Creole Queen and the Steamboat Natchez have special cruises planned that evening. Taking a cruise on the Mississippi River where the fireworks will be shot means you’ll get to see the fireworks directly overhead from the middle of the river. It’s the perfect place to watch and well worth the price of admission.
