Creole Culture Day Celebration
Vermilionville celebrates the cultures of Acadiana. This free and open celebration recognizes and honors the region’s Créole heritage. So much of the food, traditions, and music comes to the region from the Creole culture. And this is the day to recognize the many contributions to what is now contemporary folklife.
Enjoy live music from Herb Green Drummers, Cedryl Ballou & the Zydeco Trendsetters, and Donna Angelle & the Zydeco Posse. There will be cooking demonstrations by Sweet Envie and Ms. Deloris, plus a wine-making demonstration with Mr. Paul Cluse. Louisiana Poet Laureate Johnathan Mayers will share his writing, and Joe Hall will speak about the history, changes, and traditions of Creole & Zydeco music. Also, enjoy juré performances, storytelling, kids’ crafts, art from Erica Melancon Fox, museum, and photography exhibits, Zydeco dance lessons, genealogy experts, traiteur garden tours, documentaries, and much more!Read More at Vermilionville
