Annular Solar Eclipse in Port A

Solar Eclipse Activities for Libraries hosted by Ellis Memorial Library is a community event held at Roberts Point Park in Port Aransas. Roberts Point Park, located on the ship channel to the Corpus Christi Bay will be a fabulous place to gather, learn about, and view this phenom!

An Annular Solar Eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth while it is at its farthest point from Earth. Because the Moon is farther away from Earth, it appears smaller than the Sun and does not completely cover the star. This creates a “ring of fire” effect in the sky.

he Texas Coastal Bend on the US Gulf Coast will have the perfect vantage point to witness the Annular Solar Eclipse. The Corpus Christi metro area, including Padre Island, Mustang Island, Port Aransas, Rockport, and more, are in the direct path – the “Path of Totality” – and daylight will appear to dim late morning, until noon.

Check this link about the Annular Eclipse in the Coastal Bend for details.

Check the link below and check out Great American Eclipse for a better understanding of how an Annular and Total eclipse (happening in the US on April 8, 2024) differ.
