Waterway Village Series – Rosie Ledet & Chubby Carrier
While Zydeco is often referred to as “blues with an accent,” Rosie Ledet adds healthy doses of sass and sensuality to the mix! Hailing from rural Louisiana, Mary Rosezla Bellard Ledet, aka Rosie Ledet, has been a mainstay on the Zydeco scene for years, well known for being one of the few remaining Zydeco artists to write and sing her own material in both Creole French and English.
Raised in Church Point, Louisiana, Chubby Carrier – a legacy descendent of established zydeco players – has zydeco music in his veins. At 17, Chubby received a life-changing phone call from Terrence Simien to play drums on tour in Europe as they opened 14 shows for the legendary Fats Domino. Chubby joined Simien and it changed his life.
See both of these electrifying acts in Gulf Shores, Alabama, at the Waterway Village Series, a free spring concert series with live music every Thursday on the Intracoastal. Food trucks will be at each event, and the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber will be onsite selling beverages. The nearby Gulf Coast Arts Alliance will also be extending their hours on concert nights inviting participants to enjoy local art alongside the live music.
