New Orleans Gay Easter Parade
The French Quarter comes alive with a number of parades celebrating the Easter holiday. But none are quite like the Gay Easter Parade!
The annual New Orleans’ Gay Easter Parade began in 2000 as a fun way to showcase the fashion and creativity of the entire LGBT community. Since then, over $300,000 has been generated by the parade for CrescentCare’s Food For Friends, raising money to support people living with HIV/AIDS.
Expect stunning gowns, summer suits, Easter Hats, and tuxedos. It all goes down in a leisurely, carefree Sunday stroll via mule/horse-drawn carriages, wagons, convertibles, cars, trucks, and trolleys… plus bands.
This parade is not an exclusive affair for the LGBTQ community. All are welcome. All are invited to this all-inclusive, fun event for the whole family. Ground zero is the HQ of hosts, Ambush Publishing on Gay Bourbon. Launches from Rampart near Louis Armstrong Park.
