‘Naked Gardens’ Screening

The visually stunning Naked Gardens immerses audiences in the complex, unseen world of a family nudist resort in the Florida Everglades. The documentary follows the stories of individuals drawn to this lush tropical campsite, which offers a home for nonconformist values and, more important for some, a cheap place to live. The filmmakers’ respectful, nonjudgmental approach reveals familiar human experiences in a unique community, raising questions about traditionally held beliefs regarding what is socially acceptable.
Using precise and illustrative cinematic images, Ivete Lucas and Patrick Bresnan make verité stories that counter the mythic concepts of America. Their short films have premiered at Cannes, Berlin, Sundance, and Locarno. Their first feature film, Pahokee, premiered in competition at Sundance and was released in the United States and France.
The filmmakers will be in attendance.
