Florida Folk Festival
You might have an idea as to what makes Florida unique. You might be in for a pleasant surprise.
Welcome to the Florida Folk Festival, a three-day celebration of the music, dance, stories, crafts, and food that make Florida unique. Across the Memorial Day weekend, more than 300 performances give voice and meaning to Florida’s heritage.
Sit with the masters who keep cultural traditions alive. Hit the jam sessions, demos, and workshops, or try your own hand at playing mandolin, telling stories, and making a pine needle basket. Learn how to collect your family history, call a square dance, or the importance of native plant and animal species.
But wait! There’s more! Shop and visit storytelling and crafts and activities for kids, plus Florida’s traditional and contemporary craftsmen in the Florida Remembered and Seminole Heritage camps. Then dine on collard greens & cornbread, chicken pilau & hoppin’ john, shrimp gumbo, barbecue, curries, gyros, and root beer floats.
This year’s line-up includes: Papaloko & Loray Mistik, Walter Park, Monica Rios, the Lee Boys, Dôdô Awoko, Matthew Sabatella & the Rambling String Band, Bing Futch, Rayme Dance School, the Carr Sisters, Karibbean Groove, and Florida native sun and 70s icon Jim Stafford!
