Stevie Nicks in the Woodlands
That young woman in the college apartment above ours played that opening salvo to “Edge of Seventeen” non-stop. Over and over and over again. Needle on the record burned that groove straight through to our floor. Stevie was unimaginably huge. Even more huge than her Fleetwood Mac days – which seems impossibly ludicrous in retrospect. “Stop Draggin’ My Heart” huge. She was the soundtrack of the semester. These days, a whole new gen sees the sorceress songstress through a fresh lens. So she’s back out on tour.
Opener Vanessa Carlton made her mark with a huge hit defined by a tinkly piano. Her new stuff destroys any one-hit wonder labels, blasting past Stevie-tour worthiness, and blazing new celestial paths. Don’t you dare show up late.
