South Baldwin Literacy Council at the Zoo
Join the South Baldwin Literacy Council at the Zoo in November for Family Literacy Awareness Month. It’s an opportunity for families to learn and read together, and to celebrate the work literacy programs do to empower families.
Each Saturday in November and Tuesday, Nov. 22, the SBLC will partner with the AGCZ for reading time at the Zoo. Each event will begin with a book about an animal in the Zoo and will be followed by a zookeeper chat about an animal featured in the book. An adult must accompany each child at all times. Reading time, including zookeeper chat, will be 45 minutes to one hour.
The Saturday, Nov 5, 19, and 26 reading times will occur in a designated area in the Zoo and be included with paid general zoo admission. Saturday, November 12, and Tuesday, November 22, will occur outside the Zoo in our classroom in our Gift Shop and will be free to all participants. Access to the Zoo will require paid zoo admission or zoo membership.
