Always a shoo-in for a fab time on the Thursday before Fat Tuesday, New Orleans’ legendary Krewe of Muses, “one of the most anticipated and beloved of the carnival season,” according to Vogue, rolls through Uptown like they own the place, and for one night, they do. Named for the nine daughters of Zeus, Muses very emergence in 2000 ushered in hosts of women-led parade krewes and forever changed the Mardi Gras inclusion game, not to mention the shoe game, with coveted one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted throws reflecting all manner of footwear, but especially their signature pump.
