Franklin Co. Coastal Cleanup
The Apalachicola Riverkeeper, along with various Franklin County Departments, will host this year’s Franklin Co. Coastal Cleanup, part of the Ocean Conservancy’s annual International Coast Cleanup.
The event attracts hundreds of volunteers who collected more than six tons of trash from the local beaches, bay, gulf, and river. The event happens annually at various locations across the county. Volunteers will be provided trash bags, T-shirts, gloves, water, snacks, hand sanitizer, and data cards. Volunteers should bring sunscreen, bug spray, protective clothing, and sturdy shoes.
This year’s cleanup honors the legacy of Ada Long, an Apalachicola Riverkeeper volunteer who founded the St. George Island Trash Patrol and organized the annual Franklin County Coastal Cleanup.
