Their shows are still so vital, it’s hard to believe their history stretches back over 50 years, when the young but expert band of masterful jazz and funk players experimented with mystical connections between African and African-American songform. Their musical mix ended up offering some of the most long-lasting hit records that still fill dance floors and pack concert halls today. And if you’ve never seen original member Verdine and his antics on bass, you are in for a funkified treat.
