An Evening With Author Maurice Carlos Ruffin

It’s time for Summer Library Programs! The Pass Christian Library program is “not just for kids” so, the kick-off to the adult and young adult portion of the program is a special Evening with Author Maurice Carlos Ruffin.
Maurice Carlos Ruffin is the author of The Ones That Don’t Say They Love You (2021) and We Cast a Shadow (2020).
The Ones That Don’t Say They Love You is a collection of raucous stories that offer a panoramic view of New Orleans (NPR). It was a New York Times Editor’s Choice, a finalist for the Ernest J. Gaines Award for Literary Excellence, and longlisted for the Story Prize. Ruffin’s first book, We Cast a Shadow, was also a New York Times Editor’s Choice and a finalist for the PEN/Faulkner Award, the Dayton Literary Peace Prize, and the PEN America Open Book Prize. That electrifying, hallucinatory novel is at once a keen satire of surviving racism in America and a profoundly moving family story. At its center is a father who just wants his son to thrive in a broken world.
The library is excited to partner with Pass Christian Books to present this special event.
