Mamou Cajun Music Festival
Mark your calendars, and make way for Cajun food, Cajun music, and tons of Cajun culture! The Mamou Cajun Music Festival is almost here!
This beloved festival began as a one-day event featuring Cajun musicians to the citizens of Mamou and Evangeline Parish. It has since become what it is today, a two-day music festival, presenting traditional Cajun musicians, dancing, food, and contests, like the Cajun Dizzy Dash, Boudin Eating, Women’s Beer Drinking, Greased Pole Climbing, and the Carrol Ardoin Memorial Potato Dance.
All proceeds received go to preparing and presenting the next annual festival to ensure that Mamou’s Cajun Culture lives on.
This year’s fest honors author, poet, lyricist, Cajun folklorist, and expert in Cajun music and Cajun French: Dr. Barry Jean Ancelet!
