Iowa Mardi Gras Parade & Chicken Run
For over four decades the town of Iowa, Louisiana has kept the Mardi Gras party going since its humble beginnings as a simple front yard cookout. Now, generations of neighbors still come together to celebrate with trucks and floats and ATVs forming a parade that makes its way around town, stopping at local businesses and homes collecting ingredients for gumbo. Sometimes the captain of the parade with throw chickens in the air for the kids to run and catch. It all wraps up at the Knights of Columbus Hall with a gumbo feast and a zydeco dance featuring Rusty Metoyer & the Zydeco Krush.
